Nights at a Round Table

Create a healthy dining experience in a space that fosters the sense of intimacy by considering a few Feng Shui fundamentals before choosing a round or square table, and further enhancd your dining room decor serve up dinners to remember.

Dining Room Feng Shui

The ideal dining room is a place that encourages social interactions at a very intimate level and is best kept free from distractions such as the TV or computer… or phones!

While the formal dining room is often a separate room, the optimal dining experience is close enough to the kitchen to maintain a sense of unity between preparing and enjoying the food.

When considering your choice in dining tables, the most important factor is that there is sufficient room around the table to allow guests to walk around without disturbing others, and that each guests has ample space to feel comfortable.

It is worth noting that a bigger table allows you to feed more people and therefore, in Feng Shui synergistic terms, will increase your propensity for wealth. However, a large table in a small space cuts off the flow of energy, and by doing so, cuts off the flow of abundance into your life.

Square or Round in Feng Shui

I’ll just say upfront that a round or oval table will almost always be the better option from a Feng Shui perspective! That said, functionality, design and size all factor into the choice between round or square dining table.

Round tables, and all round shapes, promote the Feng Shui element of metal, which is the element that brings in the energy of clarity, equality, and precision. Nice things to add to your dinner!

The circle enables energy to flow and continue flowing, which is exactly how the conversation will flow, and flow, as there is no end to a circle. By offering unity and equanimity, a round table creates a dynamic environment that encourages not just good digestion, but good relations between all those dining.

Square tables, and all square shapes, promote the Feng Shui element of earth, which is the element that brings in the energy of grounding, support and foundation.

A square table may be the right choice if you typically turn your table into a desk, but be certain to clear away any work before eating so you are not “eating your home-work!” It is preferable to avoid sharp corners to avoid feeling poked while passing through a space. And because of the four legs instead of a pedestal, seating at a square table is a little more limited and less ideal.

Table Decor Feng Shui

Whether square or round, set out only as many placemats as guests you expect so as to avoid the “empty table” feeling.

The ideal dining ambience to promote a healthy digestion is one that is calm. Create a sense of peace by adding elements to slow energy down, such as a table cloth, large artwork, painting in muted, earthen colors such, and using lights on dimmer switches to create soft and candlelight-like lighting.

A final Feng Shui tip that can promote intimacy between you and your partner is to sit in the chair next to, instead of across from, your love so as to literally bring your energies closer together, and avoid playing conversation ping-pong – a game that was invented as an after dinner parlour game to make use of the large rectangular tables in England during the 19th Century.

Wishing you the very best in dining and life!

Shannon S:

Bottom line: CALL AND BOOK AN APPOINTMENT WITH SALVATORE!!! He really is a gifted Feng Shui practitioner! Now, for the rest of the story.

I was in a transition in my life and was feeling very STUCK! A friend of mine recommended his Feng Shui consultant, so I gave her a call. Well, she never returned my call or responded to my emails. That’s when I turned to YELP.

I looked at a number of Feng Shui consultants, but I kept coming back to Salvatore’s page. I went to his website and watched his video on his website. I know it sounds cliche, but I really liked his energy and how he came across. So I contacted him. Am I glad I did!

He responded promptly to my request for more information with a brief, yet thorough explanation of his services which included energy clearing and a thorough analysis of my interior and exterior space. In addition he would make suggestions for enhancing the flow of energy and remedies for correcting negative situations. I booked an appointment.

He arrived at my apartment at the appointed time and after the initial exchange of greetings and introductions, he went right to work. First he evaluated the external energy flow of the exterior of my apartment, then on to the interior.

Initially he engaged me into a thoughtful inquiry as to my goals in life and where I was feeling stuck. Then using the Ba-Gua map, we went room by room and he made excellent suggestions including paint colors, and where to place plants, furniture, crystals and mirrors to indeed enhance the flow of energy in my home and my life! This process took about 2.5 hours

After our initial meeting, Salvatore made it clear that I could contact him at anytime to ask him some follow-up questions or run things by him. I did, and he always responded to my inquiries.

I couldn’t agree more with what a prior YELP reviewer said about Salvatore. He is indeed a “kind, intuitive, funny brilliant and compassionate man” and I too highly, highly HIGHLY recommend his services

Work Life Balance

Work Life Balance

Five principles to help you create the Work-Life Balance you want.

This year, I had to make my way back from burn-out. I was working too much and living too little. I set out to shift my life and came up with five principles of a Work-Life Balance. This Fall has become the season of “More Being and Less Doing”!

The Elusive “Work-Life Balance”

It is a stand-out goal for most, and yet, the concept of a work-life balance is still vague at best. Part of that is in it’s uniqueness to each individual, and part of that is the difficulty of quantifying what it means.

Secrets to Vision Boarding

Secrets to Vision Boarding

In 1992 I created a collage of images that inspired me. Immediately, things started shifting in my life that were inexplicably synched up to that collage, and the shifts continued unfolding for years. My accidental discovery of the art Vision Boarding sparked a thirst for just how it is that we can create and turn dreams into reality.

Having taught, written, and practiced Vision Boarding over the decades, I’ve learned secrets that separate successful vision boards from those that are just pretty images.
